Company Accountant


Garden Club London are a leading UK garden and landscape design and build company based in Vauxhall London. We are looking to support business growth, sustainability and profitability by transferring outsourced accountancy services to an initial main point of contact in-house. This is a superb opportunity for personable, professional and ambitious accountant who is looking for the opportunity to grow their career with a business, having a key role in the development and shaping of our company.

Hybrid working is available after initial induction period. You will report directly to the MD and be willing to cover all aspects of our accountancy requirements. We have a head count of 25 full time permanent employees with a turnover of approximately £2m a year.

Job Requirements:

• Weekly/Monthly BACS run process and schedule

• Payroll

• Producing & filling the Quarterly VAT returns

• Bank & Credit Cards reconciliation

• Monitoring and actioning collection on aged debt

• Producing reports for monthly Operations meetings

• Allocation of expenses and labour to projects and monitoring budgets

• Upkeep of book keeping and cloud expenses/receipts systems

• Monthly and year end tasks

• Preparation of the annual financial statements

• Year-end Auditing

• Liaise closely with the HOD’s to assess and set department P+L targets

Candidate requirements

• A strong communicator with a professional and friendly manner, both written and verbal

• Able to work autonomously in a small team with a hands-on approach

• Good IT and Excel skills as well as accounting software ideally Quickbooks

• Proven experience in construction/Landscape industry ideal but not essential

• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage time efficiently

• Outstanding attention to detail and proven problem-solving ability

Job Requirements

  • Qualified (ACA/ACCA) or partly qualified
  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • Good level of spoken English
  • Previous experience 3 years + in the following:
    Accounting, Bookkeeping, Quickbooks, Payroll, Vat returns, Reporting
  • You should have the ability to communicate effectively with our clients, the operations team and designers.
  • You should also be able to supervise, train and motivate an assistant as the role develops
