RHS young garden designer of the year 2013

Garden Club London designer Tony Woods has won the prestigious ‘Young Garden designer of the year’ award 2013 for his garden design titled ‘Escape to the city’.

Escape to the City was designed to deliver a message to garden owners; that you don’t have to compromise on design to have an ecologically diverse garden.

The design makes use of bold, contemporary landscape features to provide structure, including a secluded shady seating area and a dry stone wall. The planting is lush and abundant, with lots of shade-loving plants, an area to grow your own produce and transparent screening provided by grasses and multi-stemmed Betula trees. The award was presented to Tony on BBC 2 during the RHS Tatton Park Flower show and Monty Don of BBC Gardeners World described Tony as a garden designer with ‘extraordinary sureness of touch’.
